Setting Power Factor on Screen

Please take caution when editing any of the inverter’s operating parameters. Changing parameters other than the one described in this technical bulletin may render the inverter inoperable.

With RPI inverters you can simply set the power factor on the inverters display. Follow the steps below.
If you choose to set the reactive power control with DSS, please refer to the technical bulletin “Setting power factor with DSS”.

RPI H3/H3A/H4A/H5A

Please note you need firmware version comm 203 (RPI H3) / 209 (RPI HXA) to set power factor on inverter screen.

  1. On an operating inverter (started up, set to AU/NZ) enter “Install settings” by going to “country” and holding “SEL” and “ENT” until “inverter shutdown” is displayed.
  2. In submenu of install settings press “SEL” until “PF Control” is displayed.
  3. On “PF control” press “ENT” to enter submenu.
  4. Press “SEL” (Next) until cosφ has the desired value. You can select a number between 0.8 and 1.
    Pay attention, if you want to set Cap (leading) or Ind (lagging) power factor.
  5. Once desired value for cosφ is displayed, press “ENT” (Enter).
  6. To confirm press “ENT” (Yes).
  7. You have now successfully set the power factor on your inverter. On the inverter display you can see “PF Control” and below the value you set the power factor to.
    Press “SEL” until “Exit? N/Y” is displayed.
  8. Press “ENT” (Yes) to leave install settings. The inverter is now ready to keep on operating normally with power factor set.

You have now successfully set the power factor on your inverter. Use “ESC” to leave submenus.

RPI M6A/M10A/M30A
  1. On an operating inverter you can see the screen beside. Push the “ESC” button to proceed to view setting options.
  2. Push the “▼” button till cursor points to “Active/Reactive Pwr” and then push “ENT” to enter submenu.
  3. The inverter will ask you to enter a password. Please contact Delta, if you don’t know the password. Enter the password.
  4. In submenu push the “▼” button once, so cursor points to “Reactive Power Ctrl” and then push “ENT”.
  5. Cursor points to “Constant cosphi”, press “ENT” to set power factor.
  6. Cursor on “Mode” press “ENT” to move to field on right. On field on rigth press “▼” to change mode to “ON”. Press “ENT” to leave right field.
  7. Push the “▼” button to move cursor to “cosphi”.
    Cursor on “cosphi” press “ENT” to move to field on right. On field on rigth use “▼” to set desired value for power factor. You can select a number between 0.8 and 1. Press “ENT” to leave right field.
    Pay attention, if you want to set Ind (leading) or Cap (lagging) power factor.

You have now successfully set the power factor on your inverter. Use “ESC” to leave submenus.

RPI M15A/M20A

Please note you need firmware version comm 237 to set power factor on inverter screen.

  1. On an operating inverter you can see the screen beside. Push the “EXIT” button to proceed to menu.
  2. Push the “▼” button till “Settings” is highlighted and then push “ENT” to enter submenu.
  3. Push the “▼” button till “Active/Reactive Power Control” is highlighted and then push “ENT” to enter submenu.
  4. The inverter will ask you to enter a password. Please contact Delta, if you don’t know the password. Enter the password.
  5. In submenu push the “▼” button once, so “Reactive Power Control” is highlighted and then push “ENT”.
  6. “Constant cosφ” is highlighted, press “ENT” to set power factor.
  7. “cosφ” highlighted, press “ENT” to move to field on right. On field on rigth use “▼” to set desired value for power factor. You can select a number between 0.8 and 1. Press “ENT” to leave right field.
    Pay attention, if you want to set Ind (leading) or Cap (lagging) power factor.
  8. Push the “▼” button to highlight “Mode”.
    “Mode” highlighted, press “ENT” to move to field on right. On field on rigth press “▼” to change mode to “ON”. Press “ENT” to leave right field.
  9. Use “ESC” to leave submenu. If “Constant cosφ” is checked, power factor is set on inverter.

You have now successfully set the power factor on your inverter. Use “ESC” to leave submenus.
